The use of electric vehicles is being promoted due to strengthened environmental regulations for automobiles in countries in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
Strategic conversion to electric vehicles is an urgent issue for some automobile manufacturers. Electric vehicles require not only the new development of batteries and motors, but also the mechanisms and components that are not utilized as the drive source in a conventional automobile. The performance of batteries, motors and other parts is significantly influenced by the characteristics of the materials for parts. The characteristics of materials are evaluated from a variety of perspectives including composition, structure, surface characteristics, strength, durability, and hardness.
In particular, in order to evaluate the safety of batteries, non-destructive interior observations are implemented, as well as battery crushing and piercing tests, and impact tests.
