70 Years Since the Introduction of Japan's First Gas Chromatograph
This year we celebrate 70 years of Shimadzu GC.
Shimadzu's gas chromatographs have continuously evolved in step with our customers’ needs.
Today, they play a vital role in multiple fields, ranging from
chemistry and environmental science to energy, food, pharmaceuticals, and materials.
Looking ahead, and building upon the technology and dedication we have cultivated over 70 years,
we will continue to support our customers and their requirements with unwavering commitment.

Meaning Behind the Logo
To commemorate the 70th anniversary of Shimadzu's first gas chromatograph, we created a logo inspired by mizuhiki, a traditional Japanese decorative cord. By combining mizuhiki's meaning of “tying together” with the inheritance of technology and connections with people and society, the logo expresses the trust and progress built over 70 years. The single-line composition that continues symbolizes our ongoing commitment to pioneering the next era and our unchanging dedication to quality.

Small but Mighty
'Brevis' is Latin for small/succinct, and the Brevis GC-2050 represents this perfectly. It was designed based on customers' requests for higher throughput within limited laboratory space, under the concept of 'smaller, but with no compromise in performance.' It is one of the smallest GCs capable of simultaneous dual-line analysis using standard capillary columns, accomplishing this with an instrument width that is approximately 65% compared to the Nexis GC-2030. Inheriting the high usability features of the Nexis GC series, such as ClickTek, and optimizing thermal design within a more compact chassis, it reduces power consumption by about 30% compared to typical GCs.
