Shim-pack MAYI 2 Series
HPLC Column
Online Sample Clean-up Column
The Shim-pack MAYI 2 Series is an online sample cleanup column that uses a restricted-access medium (RAM). Optimization of the particle size and pore size, together with coating technology applied to the particle surface, achieves high protein removal efficiency and long-term stability. Its packed design provides higher pressure resistance than the conventional Shim-pack MAYI Series*, enabling rapid sample cleanup and trapping of target compounds.

Principle of the Shim-pack MAYI 2 Series

The Shim-pack MAYI-2 Series uses 50 µm silica gel particles with a hydrophilic polymer coating on the outer surface. The stationary phase is chemically bonded only to the internal pore surfaces.
Macromolecules such as proteins are excluded from the pores, and do not interact with the internal stationary phase. As a result, they elute off the column rapidly.
Pharmaceuticals and other low molecular weight compounds penetrate the pores and are retained by the stationary phase on the internal surface. This principle enables rapid and reliable removal of macromolecules such as proteins from biological samples while retaining target components with high recovery. It is particularly effective when used as a trap column in a trap & elute LC system, reducing pretreatment effort and protecting the second-dimensional analytical column and downstream detector.
